Welcome to

Miami Monthly Meeting

For those visiting our site for the first time, we’re glad you’re here.  This is a good place to gather information about Miami Monthly Meeting and Quakers in general, especially if you’ve never visited a Quaker Meeting before.  You can find general information about our beliefs and worship on the About Us page and more detailed information on the Beliefs and Practices page.

If you live in Southwestern Ohio, or are planning to visit the area, we will be delighted to have you  join us in a Quaker Meeting for Worship.  A link to an interactive map can be found on the Contact Us page.

Visitors are always welcome at Meeting for Worship.  No special preparation is necessary.  Dress is casual.

Special arrangements to visit the Meetinghouse or our historic burial grounds during hours other than those when programs are taking place can be made by contacting one of the members listed on the Contact Us Page.

Connect with us at our lively Adult Discussion during the Religious Education hour each Sunday at 9:30.

“The Religious Society of Friends holds as the basis of its faith the belief that the seed of God is in every human being. God leaves no one without witness, but gives the Light of Divine truth and presence to people of all classes and races.”  Faith and Practice (1978)

“We acknowledge that all persons are children of one God, whose love and care are shared by all. We earnestly urge our members to be faithful to the principle of universal love in all the affairs of life. As the love of God prevails in our souls, we are led to love and forgive one another.”  Faith and Practice (1978)

Quaker Advices and Queries

The Ninth Query:  Do you hold your meetings for business in a spirit of worship? Do you seek the guidance of God, rather than acceptance of a previously formed opinion? Do you help one another in your search for unity by speaking briefly and without repetition? Are you tender and considerate of differing views, coming to a decision only when you have, with Divine assistance, found a sense of unity?

Related Advices: The Society of Friends believes that right and satisfactory decision is dependent upon full mutual understanding and agreement. Therefore it transacts its business by united decision under Divine Guidance, rather than by divisive majority vote, striving to reach its conclusions in a spirit of reasonableness and forbearance. This method of procedure has been satisfactorily followed by Friends since the organization of the Society. It has its basis in a deep-seated conviction that religious men and women should come to decisions in a spirit of unity.

The Advices and Queries enable Friends, individually and corporately, to examine themselves in relation to the standards of conduct which the Society of Friends has established for itself.
